Second Chance Antique Stove

Antique stove restorations repairs and sales

I began collecting old antique stoves back in 2002, after having purchased an antique Home Clarion cookstove from Bryant’s Stove in Thorndike, Maine. The circa 1900’s stove originates in Bangor Maine. Made of cast and nickel, this old stove shown here has been burning wood consistently every year for warmth, drying clothes, cooking meals, and grilling steaks, chops, and burgers to perfection in the midst of winter. The Home Clarion sits in my kitchen and has been a definite conversation piece for many years.

Meet Peaches, our fur baby and the antique stove brand ambassador. She’s the official warmth detector, always knowing which stove in the house is running hot.

Since my own purchase, these old beauties sparked an interest within me to learn more about their history and undeniable beauty. I began refurbishing them one great stove at a time, taking meticulous care in each restoration, with attention to detail. My restorations are internally and externally functional to its original state. I enjoy the process of disassembling each stove entirely. Each piece or part is cleaned, sandblasted, checking for flaws or cracks, repairing, caulking, welding, painted several times with high heat paint, and creating new fireboxes if needed. Ornate nickel trims and finials are sent out to be restored to shiny bright pieces. Nickel is like the frosting on the cake, making the stove magnificently appealing. It is very satisfying to watch the final product come to life to its original function and beauty as it once did back in the 1900’s.
